September and October Dairy Life Photo Contest Winners
Oct 08, 2011
Pride View Dairy, Kelly Boelter, Markesan, WI

Pride View Dairy is a fourth-generation farm started in 1939. With each generation that has operated the farm, the farm has slowly grown in size. Today, 700 head call the farm home. Kelly Boelter, the photographer of this winning entry, writes that the fifth generation of the farm, shown in the photo, is learning fast. Shown are Brianna, Brandon and Brady Boelter. Each of these farmers-in-training enjoys working in their own "fields" when they aren’t helping their Dad or uncles around the farm.
Miami Hills Dairy, Laura Frye, Logansport, IN

Laura Frye is shown in the photo with her brother, Kevin, and father, Perry. Laura fondly remembers helping her grandparents on their dairy farm before they sold their milking herd in 2003. Because of their passion to continue their involvement in the dairy business, the Frye family continues to raise a small herd of 4-H cows and help Grandpa and Grandma raise replacement heifers. Laura writes, "I believe that it has taught me important life skills such as dedication, commitment and responsibility."
