2012 Hard Winter Wheat Tour Yield Estimates

During the 55th annual Hard Winter Wheat Tour, put on by the Wheat Quality Council, around 100 scouts are crisscrossing Kansas, as well as parts of Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma.
 
Watch this video to learn how yield estimates are determined for each field.
 

 
 
The official yield formula for mature (headed wheat):
 
(Heads/foot x Number of spikelets x kernels per spikelete / row width) x 0.48 = Yield
