4H COMMODITIES:

NO MATTER THE TIME OF YEAR, THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE. SOME TENNESSEE 4-H'ERS ARE INVOLVED IN A COMMUNITY PROJECT TO HELP PACKAGE AND DELIVER GOVERNMENT COMMODITIES TO THE NEEDY. IN THIS REPORT PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, CHUCK DENNEY SHOWS US THE HUMAN ASSEMBLY LINE THAT MAKES THIS POSSIBLE.

MISSISSIPPI FOOD PORTIONS:

YOU WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI TAKING ON THE ROLE OF "FOOD PORTION POLICE". THE STATE'S GOVERNOR SIGNED A LAW THAT SAYS CITIES AND COUNTIES CANNOT PUT A LIMIT ON FOOD AND DRINK PORTIONS.

HEART HEALTH CANCER FREE:

AND IF YOU WANT TO AVOID CANCER, THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION SAYS START WITH YOUR HEART. A NEW STUDY FOUND THAT PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW THE MAJORITY OF THE ASSOCIATION'S 7 STEPS TO A HEALTHY HEART CUT THEIR RISK FOR CANCER IN HALF. THAT'S COMPARED TO PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T FOLLOW ANY OF THE STEPS. THE SEVEN STEPS INCLUDE THINGS LIKE, BEING ACTIVE, KEEPING A HEALTHY WEIGHT, EATING HEALTHY, MAINTAINING CHOLESTEROL, KEEPING BLOOD PRESSURE DOWN, WATCHING BLOOD SUGAR AND NOT SMOKING. MEETING FOUR OF THOSE FACTORS LED TO A 33 PERCENT CANCER RISK REDUCTION.
