Corn Planter Tips for In-Shop Calibration

Shop time spent calibrating the planter that will put your corn in the ground this spring is time well spent.

"If you’re making an insecticide application you can use dummy product, put it in the boxes and you can run it out and make sure that each box is calibrated the way it should be," Farm Journal field agronomist Ken Ferrie tells Corn College TV Season 3.

A good bearing chain check is also important.

"We can run the motor and we can watch all of our drive chains throughout the planter to make sure they’re running smooth, there’s no links sticking or catching or jumping up on it," he says.
