Cesar Pacheco says he didn’t have a clue about how to grow soybeans three years ago when he decided to give the crop a try. That first year he planted 4.5 acres of soybeans in northern Mexico, not far from the city of Brownsville located on the tip of south Texas. That small start quickly grew; this year Pacheco raised 4,000 acres of soybeans and is enthused about the new opportunity the crop provides for him and other area farmers.
