Microirrigation Guide Available from NRCS

January 17, 2014 02:30 AM

Farmers can educate themselves on U.S. microirrigation practices with a 200-page publication from USDA’s National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Microirrigation includes subsurface-drip irrigation, which is used for root-level water delivery to crops such as cotton and corn.

Subjects featured in Part 623: Chapter 7 of the National Engineering Handbook include emitter hydraulics, lateral line design, minimum flushing velocity and use of field data. The survey is an updated version of a chapter first published under the title of "Trickle Irrigation" in 1983.
