"Momma's" Homaemade Hot Rolls

2 cups lukewarm water
1 pkg of dry yeast
1 tsp salt
½ cup sugar
1 egg slightly beaten
Stir until dissolved- then add 3 cups of flour
Mix thoroughly and add 2/3 cup melted shortening(butter is best)
Add 3 more cups of flour and keep adding flour until it’s so thick you have to put it on the bread board and knead.
Knead until flour is used up.
Put in a greased bowl and let double in size- then pinch off and put in pans and let double (raise) in size again. ( you can also lay out on bread board, put flour on board, roll out and cut with biscuit cutter then put in pans.
Cook in oven 350-375degrees or until brown.
Depending on size of rolls, if thicker, lower the temperature.
Makes 2-4 doz
