On the Defense
Don’t forget that one of the most widespread—and frequently undetected—soybean pests is the soybean cyst nematode. "Even though symptoms often are not observed, soybean cyst nematodes continue to quietly drain soybean yields across our entire state," says University of Illinois Extension plant pathologist Carl Bradley. To read a Soybean Navigator story about outwitting nematodes, read "Stop Soybean Cyst."
Conference Will Address Resistance
University of Illinois Extension specialists are so concerned about pests building up resistance to rootworm-resistant hybrids, fungicides and glyphosate herbicide that they are devoting the general session of their annual AGMasters Conference to the issue. The conference will be held Dec. 5 and 6 in Champaign, Ill. For more information, go to http://www.cropsciconferences.com/
