When Winter Annuals Take Root

In episode 5 of Corn College TV, Farm Journal Associate Field Agronomist Missy Bauer explains how winter annuals can be a road block to successful planting.

“Sometimes we get in a bad situation because of mother nature,” Bauer says. “Winter annuals can cause some real issues at planting.”
Weeds can hold moisture, use available nitrogen, and harbor insects.
Bauer reminds farmers to keep the seedbed sacred, even in less than ideal conditions.
