1935 Farmall F-12 with Tedder

Dec 03, 2012

This tractor is featured for the month of December in the 2013 Classic Farm Tractors Calendar.

“Taking the winter off” is a fitting caption for this 78-year-old Farmall and the tedder attached—used to stir and spread hay to hurry-up drying. Owner Eric Meyer captured this winter wonderland photo and says his father farmed with Farmall F-12s; thus, “this is a tribute to his memory.”
International Harvester built more than 120,000 F-12s between 1932 and 1938, a remarkable fiture when you consider this was during the Great Depression. At first the F-12 was fitted with a Waukesha engine; but IH soon replaced it with its own, a 4-cyl. OHV engine, 113 cid, rated at 1,400 rpm. You had a choice of gas or distallate fuel. The tractor weighted in at 3,280 lb., had a 3-speed transmission. Rubber tires, wide front were optional.

He works for a manufacturing firm that once made hay forks and saw mills. Now, they build turbo compressors, huge items. “The F-12 is a more a lawn ornament than a working model.” One hobby is making birdhouses for his grandkids.
This tractor is featured for the month of December in the 2013 Classic Farm Tractors Calendar. A companion DVD is also available which runs 80 minutes and features all of the tractors and their owners. To order the calendar and/or DVD, call 800-888-8979 or go to www.classictractors.com.
