Your Favorite Tractor
1951 Minneapolis-Moline V and 1948 Avery V
Sep 30, 2012
This tractor was featured for the month of October in the Classic Farm Tractor Calendar.
Here’s a pair of rare, rare tractors—sort of like kissing cousins. Lots of collectors, even those familiar with the Minneapolis-Moline line, have never seen a Model V. It was not tested at the Nebraska Lab, either as an Avery or as a Minneapolis-Moline V, somewhat ironic because both belong to a Nebraskan. B.F. Avery of Louisville, Ky (not the Avery Co. in Peoria, Ill.) was known in the southeast. In 1943, they tackled the tractor market with their Model A, built by Cleveland Tractor Co. (Cletrac). In ’46 Avery added the Model V—a one-row tobacco tractor. In ’51 M-M acquired Avery and their BF and V models; for two years both names appeared on the tractors. Then Avery was dropped, and so was the V.
