Snow Preparation
Jan 19, 2011
Good Afternoon! It is definitely the calm before the storm around this part of the world. The sun is out and if I didn't know better I would never guess that overnight we are expected to get around 8 inches of snow! I saw on the news this morning that most of the Midwest is in for snow by morning.
As a ranch girl myself, I know that there are things you must do in order to prepare your farms and ranches for snow to come. Calving season is in full swing for some and stocker cattle are on wheat in areas too! Are you putting out extra hay? Maybe you are fortunate to calve inside. Are you bringing in your close to calving cows?
I know that there is so much more snow prep that has to occur. I would love to hear what you have to do you do to prepare for snow!
Share with me about it on Facebook. You can Tweet me (@FarmJournal). You can comment on this post, or you can email me if that is most comfortable! agiannini@farmjournal.com
Challenge: I think it would be awesome to compare what the snow looks like on farms all over the place tomorrow! So here's the deal... If you send me a picture of snow on your farm (with a measuring stick would be cool!) your picture will be featured in my blog post tomorrow! Nothing fancy, just a simple picture like this one will do!
