This morning's employment report from the Department of Labor delivered a slightly better-than-expected non-farm payrolls gain with 227,000 jobs added in February. Investors expected the report to show around 210,000 non-farm payrolls added. The unemployment rate remained at 8.3%, unchanged from the previous month.
The Labor Department also revised its January payrolls higher to 284,000 — a 41,000 increase from the initial figure.
Employment rose in professional and businesses services, health care and social assistance, leisure and hospitality, manufacturing, and mining.
