Gasoline and Diesel Report -- 3/5/2013

National gasoline prices fell $0.025 to a national average of $3.759 during the report week. Farm diesel showed mild increases with many states unchanged. Highway diesel moved lower across the board but remained above year-over pricing.

Farm Diesel --

Farm diesel moved $0.02 higher in the Inputs Monitor Regional Index last week to $3.58. Continuing snowstorms and cooler than expected temperatures have imposed on the distillate supply. For the second consecutive week, the only states that didn't see price increases were unchanged.

The regional low was observed in Ohio at $3.37 per gallon and Illinois provides the high mark at $3.83.

South Dakota sported the largest move over last week posting a $0.16 increase to $3.64 after two weeks unchanged. Indiana adds $0.07; Illinois rounds out the top three gainers adding $0.04 after a 37 cent spring last week. Wisconsin, North Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Ohio all unchanged. Kansas up $0.02 and Iowa gains a penny to $3.65.

Gasoline-

Average national retail price for regular gasoline fell $0.025 to $3.759 per gallon -- $0.034 below year-ago prices.

East Coast gasoline down $0.037 to $3.762; Midwest falls $0.026 to $3.709; Gulf Coast $0.048 lower to $3.576; Rocky Mountain gasoline $0.005 higher to $3.476, and the West Coast posts a $0.016 increase to $4.069.

Highway Diesel --

National average price for highway diesel $0.029 lower nationwide, ending the report week at $4.130 -- $0.036 above year-ago.

East Coast $0.034 lower to $4.167; Midwest highway diesel down $0.036 to $4.085; Gulf Coast $0.024 lower to $4.065; Rocky Mountain regional diesel falls $0.010 to $4.047, and West coast regional diesel down $0.014 to end the week at $4.280.
