In episode 13 of Corn College TV season 2, Farm Journal Field Agronomist Ken Ferrie answers a farmers question if this year’s yield maps are worth using for fine-tuning field management.
“It still surprises some farmers, but the most valuable yield maps are from a dry year and a wet year,” he explains. “It’s the details provided by extreme conditions that can help fine-tune management.”
He says that maps collected from dry conditions are most valuable in planting prescription maps to dial in population rates.
