In episode 12 of Corn College TV season 2, Farm Journal Associate Field Agronomist Missy Bauer walks through a simple calibration process for center pivots.

“It’s important to confirm that your pivots are uniformly applying water as they should be,” she says. “You want to test for uniformity from the base to the tip, end-to-end sprinkler uniformity.”
If pivots are not performing properly, the underapplication or overapplication can be compounded through the season.
The steps to test for uniformity are simple.
Take small fence stakes and connect catch cups. Place those at even intervals down the length of the pivot. Run the pivot and using a graduated cylinder, measure each cup for its collected water. Using calibration sheets, you can calculate your pivot for uniformity.
