Corn harvest will pick up steam in the next month or so. What will farmers do with this year’s crop—store or sell?

On Aug. 20, the Farm Journal Pulse, a text message poll of farmers and ranchers, asked: How much of your 2014 corn production is sold or priced?

  • 1-25%: 24%
  • 26-50%: 13%
  • 51-75%: 7%
  • 76-99%: 4%
  • 100%: 4%

Of the 1,700 respondents, nearly half had none of their 2013 corn crop priced.
