Tablet app shows how tools are used in test plots
Acore component of the Farm Journal Test Plots program is to stay in lockstep with technologies that can lead to higher yields. Throughout the winter months, you’ll find test plot reports, complete with commentary from Farm Journal Field Agronomists Ken Ferrie and Missy Bauer, in the pages of Farm Journal. Now we’re offering the reports in an interactive format with a free tablet app.
The app allows all of the multimedia information on a topic or tool used in the test plots to be accessible on the Apple iPad. Once downloaded, you can browse through the recent technologies, including handheld, harvest, machinery and planting tools; steering systems; and zone management, by subject. In addition to written reports, the tablet app includes photo slideshows, videos and web links to more supporting Farm Journal reports and company resources. When available, there are videos of Ferrie and Bauer explaining how they used the technology in the test plots.
This is Farm Journal’s first app published for the iPad. Once you’ve taken the app for a test drive, please offer feedback as well as any ideas for future apps. The free app is available in the iTunes store by searching "Farm Journal Test Plot Tech Tools." Let me know what you think!
