Export Sales Favorable for U.S. Wheat

Jun 17, 2010

Kansas City wheat futures traded higher today amidst quiet volume compared to yesterday, finding support from favorable USDA weekly wheat export sales reports, traders said.  Total wheat exports were estimated at 959,500 metric tonnes, including 550,000 metric tonnes of Hard Red Winter wheat, traders said.  The U.S. Dollar was trading lower this morning, also giving wheat futures a boost.  Intra-market spread that dominated yesterday's session was active, but quieter this morning, traders said.

KC July wheat was 1 cent higher at $4.91 1/2 at midday.

Small Bounce in KC Wheat Futures

Jun 08, 2010

Kansas City wheat futures bounced slightly higher today with some light short-covering activity off of recent lows, according to traders. USDA weekly wheat crop ratings showed a little deterioration in the Kansas wheat crop, but not significant, traders said.

There are some concerns with disease in the crop, including rust, traders added. Intra-market spread trading was active again today, with the KC Sep/July 2011 trading at 60 cents and the July/Sep spread trading at 11 3/4 cents. Monthly USDA supply and demand reports are due on Thursday, June 10.
