I would pay off bills and retire from my job. i would buy more land and cattle and farm like I have always wanted to. I would help some of those people who have had a lot of bad luck. Like others i would finally get to use good equipement. Hunt & fish whenever I wanted.

First of all, IF I was his age, I would have taken the stretched out payment of 20 years. That way I would have a constant stream of $$$ and not get hammered with such a big tax liability. Having a couple of million a year coming in for 20 years is a nice thing to look forward to and, after all how much can you spend and be HAPPY, without being overwhelmed. Pay off all debts, grow your buisness where you are comfortable with it and then help the comunity and friends that need it the most.

Isn't it interesting that almost all of us talk about continuing to work on our land. That's passion and is the reason why American farm production is what it is. There is hope outside of our government!

As well as getting my own life financially caught up, I'd check with a friend in Saskatchewan about his bison ranch; last we talked her was in poor shape financially, and I'd help him with it.
