Firsthand Fendt History

In November, I joined a group of 100 farmers and dealers from North America to travel to Marktoberdorf, Germany—the home of Fendt. You can read more about that here.
One big takeaway from the trip for me was experiencing the history of Fendt first hand.
The First Fendt Tractor
In 1928 Johann-Georg Fendt built this self-propelled mower in his workshop. It had a gas engine.
The Diesel Horse
This 1937 model has 16 hp and featured a PTO shaft and helped start the brand of “Dieselross” which translates to Diesel Horse.
Wood-Burning Tractor
This 1942 model was powered by the resources available at the time—wood. The shortage of diesel fuel led to Fendt engineers building this G 25 model with wood-burning engine. The four-stroke engine provided up to 25 hp.
Suspended Front Axle
This 1950 F 25 A model features all-wheel-drive and a suspended front axle.
100,000 Tractors
In 1961, the company built its 100,000th tractor. This Farmer 2 model was powered by a 3-cylinder, 34 hp diesel engine.
