A cartoonish look at life...

Is laughter the best medicine?

Nov 24, 2010

Just lately my youngest son has expressed interest in becoming a doctor. I am not sure how or why this happened as up until now he has always expressed a deep interest in the performing arts. Last year he won best actor (of the year!) as a freshman in high school and his band has being getting paying gigs, between all the breakups that is. I say, why can’t he be both a performer and a doctor? How many times have you heard an actor portraying a medical professional in a commercial say, “I‘m not a doctor, but I play one on T.V.”? Well, if my son were a doctor just think how much more credibility that would have? In fact, to make a (here comes a shameless plug) point, I had him portray a doctor, and using my last blog entry as the script, do a commercial for my 2011 Rubes Zoo in a Box Daily Desk Calendar. (I told you it was a shameless plug so don’t act so surprised!) I’m telling you, the kid’s pretty darn convincing. He better be. I’m going to have to sell a whole lot of calendars to put him through medical school...

Getting your priorties straight!

Nov 18, 2010

Do you suffer from “So much to do and so little time to do it” syndrome? It’s a widespread condition affecting millions of individuals in this now fast paced – high stress world in which we live. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Why, I too am affected by this insidious malady. I often find myself with a gazillion (that’s a big number!) things to do and have trouble deciding where I am going to start first. Well, it just so happens that I know of a possible cure.*(*This claim has not been evaluated by the FDA probably because they have so many claims to evaluate that they don’t even know where to begin. I may have a possible cure for them...) Anyway, here’s the answer...You need to prioritize! That’s right; it seems so simple you are probably saying to yourself. Why didn’t I think of that?! The reason is you already have too much to think about! So, here’s what to do. I happen to know of a product which can help alleviate this condition.* (*This statement has also not been evaluated by the FDA). ..And what is the miracle cure you are asking yourself?...I am so glad you asked! Why, it’s the brand new 2011 Rubes Zoo in a Box Daily Desk calendar! This little wonder cure is guaranteed to help you stay organized all year long* (*Also not evaluated by you know who). And not only that, as an extra bonus you’ll get the extra benefit of a new cartoon to laugh out loud at every day of the year!...And we all know that laughter is the best medicine* (*Unsure if that claim has ever been evaluated by the FDA but big deal. So sue me!) So make it your #1 priority and order yours now by clicking on the following link:Zoo in a Box 2011 Calendar [Calendar]! (See cover below) You be glad you did!

Thrilled to Death

Nov 07, 2010

Never been a big fan of roller coasters. No sir, not one bit. Tried many times but roller coasters are just not for me, or to be more accurate, my stomach. When I was a kid I was able to tolerate the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland but for some reason after I passed my teens I lost all interest.  Oh, I tried to get into it to show my kids I could handle it. Several years ago my family went to Six Flags Magic Mountain and after what seemed like an eternity of dips and bumps and stomach-churning turns I stumbled off the ride and staggered around for the next 45 minutes in a nauseous daze. I decided that was it and I would never subject myself to such a nightmarish experience ever again.  How wrong I was. Now each day I have the pleasure of experiencing all the thrills that come with my youngest son driving to school with me as the passenger/instructor. It’s a good thing I eat breakfast after I get home.

Thrilled!
