Harvest Delayed in Brazil
Feb 14, 2011
Harvesting was supposed to begin in the N/NE farm areas this weekend, but too much rains over all region delayed work again. The climate is very warm and moisture excess is causing rumors of losses in the local market. Some says about 5% down if situation keeps more 10 days.
I heard from a producer of Goiás (Central region) that soybeans is “cooking” in the pods. I don’t recall a situation like that, so can’t figure out what is really gonna happen. If you have any prediction, let us know!
Meanwhile, in Argentina stills preoccupation with drought. For this week, rains in the west region is expected, but nothing for La Pampa. Also speculations about government may block exports to control food prices increasing in that country. Private agencies calculates the real CPI is more than 20%.
Will send you more news from harvesting as soon as it begins.
