1952 Ford 8N

Dec 31, 2010

Cover Tractor of the Month, Fastline Texas Edition

1952 Ford 8N

Texas Ford

Owned and restored by Troy Ashcraft, Dublin, Texas.

This Ford tractor was purchased in September 1952 from the local Ford Tractor Dealership by Mr.and Mrs. Elder Tackett. It was used for shredding weeds, light plowing, pulling a grain drill, sowing various seeds and general farm work on their ranch. After the passing of Mr. Trackett, it was retired to the corner of the work shop area.

Knowing the family–and after some persuading–Mrs. Whitehouse (now) was willing to depart with “her” tractor with the condition it would find a good home and not to have to go to the field again. The 8N has been restored after a year of work and TLC to its original condition (maybe even better) with parts and paint of the original order and is now ready to go to the area’s various tractor shows.

This is a 1967 4020 John Deere diesel which I purchased in the year of 1969. This tractor is 100% original paint, 24-volt electrical system and tin work. As you see in picture we use it on the disc mower, hauling hay and just plain handy work.

The 2011 Classic Farm Tractors Calendar is Now Available

Dec 09, 2010

For its 22nd year, the Classic Farm Tractors calendar is featuring a very patriotic scene on its cover. Ray Miller’s Farmall and barn emblazoned with Old Glory is only miles from where Flight 93 crashed on September 11. In 2002, the Miller family painted their barn doors with an American flag to remember Flight 93.

The twelve-month calendar also features restored machines from 10 states including:  a 100- year old IHC Titan and Auto Wagon, a '57 Massey- Harris 50; '44 John Deere L, '51 Ford 8N, two Allis D-17 Models, '37 Cletrac, a '76 Steiger Panther shown with the largest U. S. flying flag; '38 Huber, '46 Farmall BN, '62 Minne-Mo G, two Oliver lawn tractors, a John Deere Christmas scene. "Classic Tractor Machinery" features a restored IH Model 314 one-row cotton picker harvesting in North Carolina.
The Flight 93 National Memorial will be in southwestern Pennsylvania near Somerset on I-70 and I-76. Calendar editor John Harvey is selling t-shirts featuring a drawing of the Miller barn on the front and 'Remembering Flight 93' on the back. All proceeds from the shirts will benefit the Flight 93 Memorial Fund.

1958 Case 500 Diesel

Dec 08, 2010

This tractor is featured for the month of December in the Classic Farm Tractor Calendar.

It was a powerful tractor, revolutionary in some ways. At the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory in October 1953, it marked the first Case diesel tested; plus the Case 500 was one of the first tractor with power steering. Its big 6-cylinder diesel (4x5 in. bore and stroke for 377 cu. in.) made 63.81 belt hp–and 411 lb. of torque. A John Deere 50 All-Fuel tested a few days earlier showed 158.6 lb. of torque, less than half the Case. Some think this model looked like a twin to the LA; the 500 still had the simple 4-speed transmission of the Model LA. Snow photo was no problem. Lately, Wisconsin measures snow depth in feet, no inches!

1956 Case 500

Owner: Pam and Darrel Jahnke

Madison and Green Bay, Wisc.

This father-daughter dynamic duo got this 54-year-old up and running in the state where it was built. Pam served as president of the National Farm Broadcasting Association in 2009, is a farm director on a Madison radio station and has a large, loyal audience. This Case was the first tractor Darrell purchased when he took over the family farm.

The world-famous Classic Farm Tractor Calendar from Classic Tractor Fever is in its 21st year of publication with the 2010 calendar available now. They have calendars, videos, books, and much, much, more. Click here to visit their online shop.

A 1966 John Deere 2020

Dec 07, 2010

JD 2020

This is my 1966 -2020 John Deere with a #27 loader, which I purchased new. I use this tractor on the grain auger in fall & also to move snow on our driveway in the winter. It is so handy off & on plus it has given us perfect service thru the years. The tractor is equipped with gas motor.
