According to more than 1,500 farmers, 66% of this year’s corn crop is in the ground, as of May 2.
That figure is just slightly above
USDA’s April 29 report of 53% planted. According to USDA, the five-year average for percent planted by this week is 27%.
This week’s Farm Journal Pulse, a text message poll of farmers and ranchers, asked: What percentage of your corn is planted?

- 0%: 9%
- 1-25%: 14%
- 26-50%: 12%
- 51-75%: 12%
- 76-99%: 14%
- 100%: 39%
