2013 Farm Bill Draws Mixed Reactions on Twitter

As members of Congress discuss plans for the 2013 farm bill this week in Washington, Farm Journal asked its Twitter followers a question: On a scale of 1 (not at all) to 10 (a whole lot), how much do you care about this week's #farmbill discussion in DC? Why?

Here's what some of you said:

1 to 4

@kraylake: "1, they could scrap the whole thing as far as I'm concerned and let the market work."

@mattreynolds03: "1, we need to be profitable independently from it to be sustainable."

@GoddessofGrain: "3 I'd rather see them separate the food programs out and make it a true #farmbill first and foremost."

5 to 7

8 to 10

@sksullivanfarms: "10 without agriculture ee starve and the US economy totally crashes!"

@DrAlusby: "10. I teach Ag Policy. #farmbill is obviously a big chunk of the class."

@WheelersWords: "Definitely a 10. Living in #Iowa the #farmbill is huge for our state! Let's hope #congress gets it done! #ANF #farmstrong"

More reaction

@jr_womack: "When they take the carrot (money) away from producers, who cares what they do with it?"

  Even Bill Gates understands the roll of agriculture better than the US Government.
