Great American Barn: Lane Barn

December 2, 2016 01:26 PM

This week’s Great American Barn has a presidential past.

In 1826, John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States, deeded farmland in Camden, Ind. to William Wilson. The farm remained in the family until 1927 when descendants of the Wilson family sold it to the Lane family.

The cement on the barn floor says 1899, however, the Lanes believe parts of the barn date back much earlier.

Nancy Johnson’s father was a well-known veterinarian in the area and practiced his trade inside the barn.

Our thanks to Michael and Nancy Johnson for sharing their Great American Barn.
