No PEDv Vaccines for EU Producers

While vaccines for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv) are available in some countries affected by the disease – including the United States – the same can’t be said for the European Union. According to one speaker at the Herning Pig Congress in Denmark, PEDv vaccines likely will not be available for EU pork producers now or in the foreseeable future.

FG | Insight reports Andrea Ladinig of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna presented the update last month.

Dr. Georgina Crayford, senior policy adviser at the National Pig Association, elaborated on PEDv in the EU.

Crayford explained the reason vaccines may not be coming to the United Kingdom or the rest of the EU in the near future.
