$200 Double Your Money Winner: Workbench Light With 5' Reach

I needed better lighting over my workbench, so I bought a light and fabricated an arm. First, I welded a piece of 1"-diameter pipe to the center of the table then dropped in a smaller pipe so the light can rotate 360°. Then, I welded a ¾" piece of square tubing to the pipe, used spacers, washers and bolts to make a hinge and added two more sections of tubes. Two washers reinforced with welded gussets and a 3⁄8" bolt and lock nut hinge the second and third arms.

Grab Handle on Machinery Ladders

Sometimes carrying tools or other items up machinery ladders can be challenging if you are forced to climb with one hand. We added a sliding grab handle to the existing ladder rail to assist in climbing. Simply loop a ratchet strap around the rail and use a 3⁄8" bolt to connect the strap.

A Picture Perfect Memory

To help my dad remember where to connect hydraulic hoses on equipment, I take a picture when they’re connected, print a 4"x6" photo and tape it to the inside of the tractor cab back window. A simple fix means hoses are properly connected the first time.
