Day One of the western leg came to a disappointing close for the South Dakota corn crop. Corn yield estimates came out 9.7% lower than last year and Pro Farmer’s Chip Flory said there were a lot of issues with the South Dakota corn crop.
Soybeans also came in lower than last year at an average of 970 pods per three-foot by three-foot square, which was down 8%. Overall, Flory says, what they’re seeing is very similar to what USDA reported on the Aug. 1 report.
