Beyond Tax Calculations

New Silverado Lineup makes good sense in a changing market.

In economic times like these, we hear the voices of our dads and grandfathers echoing in our heads. "Keep operating costs down. Trim the fat. Get lean and mean. Buy quality equipment that will last.”

Getting back to these basics is how today's farmers will hit the changing market climate head on, and Chevy is right there to help with their latest lineup of Silverado pickups. Take fuel economy, for example.

"We pulled out all the stops to deliver a more efficient package for customers who need the capability of full-size pickups and SUVs and want the very best fuel economy,” says Gary White, GM North America vice president and vehicle line executive for full-size trucks.

"Our full-size pickups and SUVs are already the fuel economy leaders of their respective segments, but our engineers knew greater efficiency was achievable.”

The new 2WD Silverado Crew Cab XFE (Xtra Fuel Economy) is a prime example of this thinking: It's the most fuel-efficient full-size pickup on the market, with an EPA est. 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

Compared to the EPA estimates of similar-size V8s in the 2WD models of the 2008 Ford F-150 (13/17), 2009 Dodge Ram (13/19), and 2009 Nissan Titan (13/18), the Silverado XFE is a stellar performer.

But fuel economy is not the only bang-for-the buck aspect of the Silverado lineup. Durability and reliability play major roles as well. Recent studies have shown the Chevy Silverado to have the lowest cost of ownership of any full-size pickup (based on Vincentric's 2008 Model Level Analysis).

In fact, GM is so confident of Silverado's quality, they've given the trucks the best coverage in the country. You can drive your new Silverado for 5 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) with the confidence of a transferable powertrain limited warranty, plus roadside assistance and courtesy transportation programs.
