The Association of Equipment Manufactures released their sales report for May 2009.

Small tractor sales continue to decline. The highest decrease was two-wheel drive tractors of 40 horsepower and less than 100 horsepower with a 33.2% decrease in May 2009 compared to May 2008. The year-to-date sales difference between 40 horsepower and less than 100 horsepower tractors in 2008 and 2009 declined 27.6%.

Four-wheel drive tractors continue to gain as sales increased 21.1% and the year-to-date sales increased 7.7%.

Self-propelled combines also remain positive with a 43.9% increase and a year-to-date increase of 32.7%.

Total retail sales reported are significantly less than the five year average.
