Ag Pro Podcast: Committing to Seed Early

September 6, 2018 11:19 AM

In the AgPro Podcast, voices from the industry asked: What is your business doing different for seed sales in the coming year?

Kent Nichols
Moundridge, Kan.

Agronomy Field Sales Manager/Seed Manager, Mid Kansas Coop

“For the last couple of years, our strategy has been to work with growers to commit early. We really focus on getting the right genetics bought early, so we don’t run out of the hybrid or variety we need. We use more financing tools to help farmers buy seed at the right time without having the cash flow strain. We broke ground in August on a cover crop facility in Groveland, Kan., with three product bins and a blender. Cover crops are a growing market, and we see this as an opportunity to help farmers learn.”
