WX:
WELCOME BACK TO AGDAY HERE WITH METEOROLOGIST MIKE HOFFMAN. MIKE LOOKS I THINK MY FAMILY IS GETTING A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW OUT THERE IN EASTERN NEW MEXICO. YEAH THEY ARE. ITS ONE OF THOSE CASES WHERE YOU HAVE STORM SYSTEM TO THE SOUTH AND UP SLOPE WINDS EASTERN PORTIONS OF NEW MEXICO END UP GETTING A LOT OF SNOW IN THAT SITUATION. SO LETS CHECK THINGS OUT AND YOU CAN SEE THE WIDESPREAD RAINS ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN SOUTHERN AND EVEN CENTRAL TEXAS AND THEN YOU GET TO THE PANHANDLE AND EVEN FARTHER SOUTH FROM THERE. LOTS OF SNOW...BACK INTO MUCH OF NEW MEXICO THIS MORNING…HIGH PRESSURE FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ROCKIES TO THE MIDDLE OF THE CORN BELT KIND OF KEEPING THINGS DRY IN MOST OF THOSE AREAS. THERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW THERE. PARTS OF THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS AS THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES AWAY. AND AS WE PUT THE MAPS INTO MOTION THIS STORM SYSTEM IS GOING TO MOVE THROUGH THE GULF COAST AREA AND THERE IS GOING TO BE A LOT OF RAIN IN SOME OF THOSE COASTAL AREAS. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE FOR AWHILE UNTIL THAT UP SLOPE WIND KIND OF DIMINISHES. YOU CAN SEE ANOTHER COLD FRONT KIND OF COMING INTO THE NORTHERN PLAINS. THIS HAS MAINLY PACIFIC AIR BEHIND IT THOUGH NOT REALLY ARCTIC AIR QUITE YET. AND THEN AS WE HEAD THROUGH TONIGHT YOU CAN SEE THE STORM SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH SOUTHERN GEORGIA SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF ALABAMA WITH LOTS OF RAIN. THE PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA GETTING SOAKED AGAIN, AND THEN YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW AND ICE PERHAPS IN THE UPPER PORTIONS OF THE GREAT LAKES WITH THAT NEXT SYSTEM, AND ONE MORE SYSTEM STARTING TO COME IN OUT WEST. THAT WILL SPREAD SOME RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOWS INTO AROUND THOSE AREAS. NOW THIS IS THE STORM SYSTEM WE TALKED ABOUT YESTERDAY. THIS WILL BE HEADING UP THE EAST COAST AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW. ITS STILL ALL RAIN IN THIS AREA BUT AS IT MOVES UP THE EAST COAST WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO SEE A PRETTY BIG SNOWSTORM IN PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST. WEATHER IT HITS THE BIG CITIES OR NOT IS THE BIG QUESTION BUT IT IS GOING TO BE BRING A LOT OF MOISTURE UP THAT WAY. LETS CHECK THE PRECIPITATION ESTIMATE OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS YOU CAN SEE ALL OF IT ACROSS TEXAS EASTERN NEW MEXICO. JUST A LITTLE BIT IN THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS SOUTHEASTERN AND PORTIONS OF THE GREAT LAKES. BUT ADDING ON THE NEXT 36 HOURS MOST OF IT GETS ADDED IN THE RAINY AREAS AS YOU CAN SEE WITH PARTS OF THE GULF COAST AREA WITH LOUISIANA AND TEXAS GETTING UPWARDS OF 3" OF RAIN OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD. THERE'S THE SNOWFALL ESTIMATES OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. MOST OF IT IN THE NORTHEASTERN AND EAST CENTRAL PORTIONS OF NEW MEXICO BUT ALSO THE PANHANDLE OF TEXAS GETTING PRETTY GOOD…NOT A LOT MORE COMING. THIS DOES TEND TO DIMINISH AS WE HEAD THROUGH TIME. WE'LL SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW IN THE UPPER GREAT LAKES AND EASTERN GREAT LAKES BUT EVEN THAT KIND OF ON THE LIGHT SIDE. HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON 20'S FOR THE GREAT LAKES AND NORTHEAST. BUT MILD CONDITIONS CONTINUE CENTRAL PLAINS INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC STATES. 50'S DOWN TO THE GULF COAST. LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT GOING TO BE VERY COLD INTO THE INNER MOUNTAIN REGIONS OF THE ROCKIES AND THE FAR NORTHEAST…OTHER THAN THAT NOT TOO BAD FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AND THE SAME IDEA TOMORROW…ALTHOUGH, WITH THE RAIN IN THE SOUTHEAST YOU'RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT A COLD RAIN WITH TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO NORMAL FOR YOU FOLKS. THERE'S THE JET STREAM AND YOU CAN SEE THE TROUGH MOVING THROUGH .LITTLE PIECES KEEP TRYING TO DIG THIS TROUGH INTO THE EAST AND THAT'S GOING TO CONTINUE TO BE A VERY COLD AIR COMING INTO THE NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. VERY FAR WEST IN BETWEEN WILL BE KIND OF GOING BACK AND FORTH AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND AND MUCH OF NEXT WEEK. THAT'S A LOOK ACROSS THE COUNTRY NOW LETS TAKE A LOOK AT SOME LOCAL FORECASTS. WE'LL HEAD TO GILLETTE WYOMING FIRST OF ALL. A GOOD DEAL OF SUNSHINE TODAY HIGH UP TO 37 DEGREES SPRINGDALE ARKANSAS PARTLY SUNNY A BIG COLDER HIGH OF 45, AND FINALLY TRENTON NEW JERSEY A MIXTURE OF CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE THE AFTERNOON HIGH 37…
TEASE:
STILL TO COME A NEW COURT CASE COULD CHANGE THE WAY MANURE IS HANDLED AT AMERICA'S FEEDLOTS AND DAIRY'S. I'LL EXPLAIN NEXT IN OUR BEEF TODAY REPORT.
ECOLI RESEARCH:
RESEARCHER MAY HAVE JUST UNLOCKED A NEW WEAPON IN THE FIGHT AGAINST E-COLI.
THIS COMES FROM MEATING PLACE. SCIENTISTS AT THE UNVERSITY OF GLASGOW IN SCOTLAND SAYS THEY'VE FOUND AN AMINO ACID PRODUCED IN THE HUMAN BRAIN THAT COULD HELP PREVENT - OR TREAT - INFECTION FROM E. COLI 1-5-7.  THE RESEARCHERS SAYS HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF THIS AMINO ACID CAN KEEP THE BACTERIA FROM ATTACHING TO HOST TISSUE. IT COULD HELP WITH ANTIBIOTIC RESITANCE ISSUES STARTING TO CROP UP IN CERTAIN STRAINS OF E-COLI.
TEASE:
WHEN WE COME BACK, ITS OUR THIRD FINALIST RUNNING FOR THE TITLE OF TOP PRODUCER OF THE YEAR. AND HE'S DOING IT BY SERVING A UNIQUE NICHE IN THE INDUSTRY.
CLOSE:
THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE THIS MORNING. WE'RE GLAD YOU TUNED IN.
