NOAA EXPECTS TO REVEAL IT'S GLOBAL FIGURES NEXT WEEK.

WX:
WELCOME BACK TO AGDAY HERE WITH METEOROLOGIST MIKE HOFFMAN. MIKE ONE DAY THIS WEEK MY CAR REGISTERED NEGATIVE 12 ON THE THERMOMETER. COLD OUT THERE WHAT ARE WE GOING TO SEE IN THE WEEK AHEAD? WELL RIGHT NOW THIS IS THE LAST BLAST OF THE EXTREME COLD. HIGH PRESSURE COMING INTO THE NORTHERN PLAINS...SO AT LEAST WE SEE THINGS BECOMING A LITTLE LESS INTENSE AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEK NEXT WEEK. BUT I DON'T SEE ANY HUGE WARM UP FOR MOST OF THE NORTHERN TIER OF STATES ANYWAY. DOWN SOUTH YOU'LL PROBABLY WARM UP A FAIR AMOUNT AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK. BUT FOR NOW YOU'LL SEE THE COLD FRONT MOVING INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE COUNTRY ALL THE WAY INTO TEXAS. SOME SHOWERS ALONG THAT FRONT SNOW FROM THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS NORTHWARD AND OF COURSE LAKE EFFECT BEHIND IT...SOME AREAS JUST CONTINUE TO GET DUMPED ON BASICALLY AROUND THE GREAT LAKES WITH THIS COLD AIR CONTINUING TO COME IN. SO PUTTING THE MAPS INTO MOTION THAT COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD SOUTH AND EASTWARD SO THERE'S THAT NEXT BLAST OF COLD COMING INTO FLORIDA. LIKE WE JUST TALKED A COUPLE OF SYSTEMS LINGERING OFF THE WEST COAST NONE OF THESE ARE STRONG. THE JET STREAM IS NOT PLOWING THEM INTO THE WEST COAST SO AT THIS POINT THEY ARE JUST GOING TO TRICKLE INTO THE WEST COAST OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THE HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY SO TONIGHT IS GOING TO BITTERLY COLD AGAIN. OHIO VALLEY BACK INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS AS WELL AS THE GREAT LAKES ALTHOUGH THE GREAT LAKES DO TEND TO BE A LITTLE MILDER BECAUSE OF THE WARMER WATERS THERE. A FAIR AMOUNT OF RAIN THERE DEVELOPING IN SOUTHERN TEXAS AND YES THAT'S A MIXTURE OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN FOR PARTS OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS. THAT'S PRETTY FAR SOUTH TO SEE FROZEN PRECIPITATION LIKE THAT. BUT YOU CAN SEE OUR COMPUTER MODEL KEEPS IT AS WE HEAD THROUGH TOMORROW INTO SATURDAY I SHOULD SAY AND THEN CHANGING IT ALL OVER RAIN SHOWERS AS WE HEAD THROUGH END OF THE DAY. THE NEXT COLD FRONT AGAIN NOT NEARLY AS STRONG AS THE LAST TWO SO EVEN IT’S ON THE MAP ITS NOT REALLY BRINGING ANOTHER SHOT OF ARCTIC AIR JUST YET. THERE'S THE PRECIPITATION ESTIMATES OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. YOU CAN SEE MOST OF IT HAS BEEN CENTERED ON THE GREAT LAKES. OF COURSE THIS IS THE LIQUID EQUIVALENT OF THE SNOW THAT'S BEEN FALLING. OVER THE NEXT 36 WE'LL CONTINUE TO SEE THAT SPREAD EASTWARD THE LAKE EFFECT ZONES CONTINUING TO GET RAIN. A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN THERE IN SOUTHEAST FLORIDA BUT SOUTH TEXAS GETTING THE MAJORITY OF THE RAIN OVER THE NEXT 36 HOURS OR SO. SNOWFALL ESTIMATES OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. WE'LL ADD ON THE NEXT 36 AND WE JUST KIND OF ADD SOME RIGHT THROUGH SOME OF THE SAME AREAS THAT HAVE BEEN GETTING IT. YOU CAN SEE A FEW POCKETS IN CENTRAL TEXAS ON UP INTO EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE ROCKIES AS WELL. TEMPERATURES YOU CAN SEE SINGLE DIGITS FOR HIGHS THIS AFTERNOON...INTO THE GREAT LAKES. FORTIES BY THE TIME YOU GET TO THE GULF COAST. LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WAY BELOW ZERO AGAIN FOR THE INTERIOR PORTIONS OF THE CORN BELT. 30'S ALL THE WAY INTO NORTHERN FLORIDA AND AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW. MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF A WARM UP WITH SOME TEENS SHOWING UP WITH SOME PLACES THAT HAVE BEEN SINGLE DIGITS RECENTLY…THE TROUGH DOES RELAX A LITTLE BIT. WE CONTINUE TO SEE SOME COLD SHOTS COMING INTO THE NORTHERN TIER OF STATES EARLY NEXT WEEK AND THE TROUGH KIND OF LINGERS OVER THE NORTHEAST WITH THE RIDGE STAYING OUT WEST. AND THAT STILL MEANS COLDER THAN NORMAL FOR MOST OF THE EAST. THAT'S A LOOK ACROSS THE COUNTRY NOW LETS TAKE A LOOK AT SOME LOCAL FORECASTS. FIRST OF ALL FOR SALT LAKE CITY UTAH PARTLY SUNNY AND CHILLY HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 43 DEGREES…DES MONIES IOWA BREEZY AND COLD WITH SOME SUNSHINE HIGH OF ONLY SIX…CHARLOTTE CAROLINA MOSTLY SUNNY AND NOT AS COLD THE AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURE AROUND 42…
