TODAY ON AGDAY
JUNE 1, 2015

OPEN HEADLINES:
COMING UP TODAY ON AGDAY - EPA CONTINUES ITS FLURRY OF REGULATORY RELEASES--THE LATEST SETTING RENEWABLE FUEL MANDATES. PLUS, THE NUMBER OF CASES OF AVIAN FLU MAY BE SLOWING, BUT BIOSECURITY REMAINS A HIGH PRIORITY FOR EGG PRODUCERS. IN AGRIBUSINESS....WHEAT QUALITY MAY BE RUNNING THE SHOW FOR PRICES MACHINERY PETE SAYS GOOD USED SKID STEERS AREN'T SELLING CHEAP. AND RESCUE DOGS ARE HELPING SEARCH FOR SURVIVERS IN TEXAS--BUT KEEPING THEM HEALTHY IS A JOB ALL ITS OWN. AGDAY-BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE DEPENDABLE, LONG LASTING CHEVY SILVERADO…
RFS VOLUMES:
GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. IT MAY SEEM LIKE REGULATORY OVERLOAD AS E-P-A ENDS LAST WEEK WITH A HOST OF RULES AND REGULATIONS. WHAT WILL THIS WEEK BRING TO FARM COUNTRY?...AND THAT'S OUR TOP STORY ON AGDAY.
EPA RECAPS:
THE R-F-S WAS JUST ONE OF THREE RULES AND POLICIES RELEASED BY EPA LAST WEEK.
IN ADDITION TO THE R-F-S ON FRIDAY, ON THURSDAY, E-P-A PROPOSE A RULE THAT WOULD CREATE TEMPORARY PESTICIDE-FREE ZONES TO PROTECT COMMERCIAL HONEYBEES. THOSE RESTRICTIONS WOULD COVER TIMES WHEN CERTAIN PLANTS ARE IN BLOOM AND WHEN SOME COMMERICAL HONEYBEES ARE BEING MOVED, AND ON WEDNESDAY, E-P-A RELEASED ITS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RULE ON "WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES". THE RULE DICTATES WHICH BODIES OF WATER ARE REGULATED UNDER THE CLEAN WATER ACT.
RFS VOLUMES:
FRIDAY'S ACTION INVOLVES BIOFUELS, MUCH OF IT INVOLVING CORN-BASED ETHANOL.
EPA IS REQUIRED TO SET ANNUAL STANDARDS FOR THE USAGE OF BIOFUELS. THE AGENCY RELEASED THE PROPOSED LEVELS THAT APPLY TO 2014-THRU-2016.
U OF I ECONOMIST:
A REAL SLIGHT OF HAND BY EPA TO LABEL THIS PROPOSAL AS BEING CONSISTENT WITH THE INTENT OF CONGRESS TO PUSH THE CONSUMPTION OF BIOFUELS IN OUR DOMESTIC FUEL CONSUMPTION."
DUSTIN JOHNSON:
YOU KNOW, REALLY DID RESPECT THAT BLEND WALL. AND MAY SEE A LITTLE INCREASE IN BIOFUELS BUT OVERALL, NOT REALLY MARKET MOVER AT THIS TIME. "
BLENDER PUMPS:
THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ALSO PLEDGING $100 MILLION DOLLARS TO EXPAND THE USE OF SPECIAL FUEL PUMPS THAT ALLOW DRIVERS TO BLEND MORE ETHANOL INTO THEIR GASOLINE…THESE BLENDER PUMPS LET DRIVERS CHOOSE HOW MUCH ETHANOL TO MIX WITH GAS. BACK IN 2011, THE USDA  SAID IT WANTED TO GET 10,000 BLENDER PUMPS INSTALLED.
THAT NUMBER IS WELL SHORT DUE TO THE COST OF THE PUMPS AND SOME RELUCTANCE TO PAY FOR THE UPGRADED INFRASTRUCTURE.
TEASE:
UP NEXT WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT WHEAT PRICES AND WHAT RECENT WET WEATHER MAY MEAN FOR BASIS IN THE MONTHS AHEAD.
ITC TEXAS SEARCH DOGS:
AMONG THE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY FLOODING IN CENTRAL TEXAS, THERE ARE SOME HEROIC EFFPRTS BY RESCUERS.FOR EXAMPLE EIGHT HIGHLY-TRAINED RESCUE DOGS ARE HELPING SEARCH TEAMS COMB THROUGH DENSE FOREST, DEBRIS AND DESTRUCTION LEFT BEHIND. JOHN MONE FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTS JUST LIKE THEIR HUMAN PARTNERS IN THE FIELD, THE DOGS NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION TOO.
CLOSE:
THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE THIS MORNING. WE'RE GLAD YOU TUNED IN.
