USDA HAS BEEN DEVELOPING A VACCINE AGAINST BIRD FLU AND WAS WEIGHING WHETHER TO RELEASE IT TO DRUG MAKERS FOR WIDESPREAD PRODUCTION. USDA SAID THE VACCINES DEVELOPED TO FIGHT H-5-N-2 "DO NOT MEET A SUITABLE LEVEL OF EFFICACY. HARRIS REMAINS HOPEFUL.
MEAT EXPORTS:
EXPORTS OF U-S PORK IN APRIL REACHED THE HIGHEST AMOUNT IN MORE THAN A YEAR, ACCORDING TO NEW DATA FROM THE US-MEAT EXPORT FEDERATION. US-M-E-F SAYS EXPORTS ARE UP FOUR PERCENT IN VOLUME YEAR OVER YEAR. BUT THE EXPORT VALUE IS DOWN 14-PERCENT DUE TO LOWER PORK PRICES. THE NUMBER ONE PORK BUYER, MEXICO, IS UP EIGHT PERCENT IN VOLUME. U-S-M-E-F SAYS BEEF EXPORTS ARE DOWN SEVEN PERCENT IN VOLUME OVER YEAR OVER.
BASF SYNGENTA:
FIRST MONSANTO NOW REUTERS REPORTING B-A-S-F IS CONSIDERING AN OFFER FOR SYNGENTA. THE REPORT SAYS BASF IS SPEAKING WITH INVESTMENT BANKERS ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF AN OFFER. BASF IS THE WORLD'S LARGEST CHEMICALS GROUP AND RANKS THIRD GLOBALLY IN THE CROP CHEM MARKET. THE COMPANY IS DECLINING TO COMMENT. MEANWHILE, SOURCES SAY MONSANTO IS STILL EXPECTED TO COME BACK WITH A LARGER OFFER.

BULL RESCUE:
