WX:
WELCOME BACK TO AGDAY WITH METEOROLOGIST MIKE HOFFMAN. MIKE, IT'S COLD. THAT'S THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY. I DON'T THINK THERE'S A WHOLE LOT ELSE TO SAY. IT'S THE PATTERN THAT'S BRINGING COLD AIR TO EVERYONE EAST OF THE ROCKIES. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TWO TO THREE DAYS WHERE IT WARMS UP. BUT THEN IT GOES BACK TO COLD TO WHERE THE PATTERN LOOKS. THAT WILL HAPPEN AS WE HEAD INTO WINTER AS WELL. I DON'T SEE A MAJOR LET-UP IN THE COLD AIR AT THIS POINT. BIG TIME COLD NOW IN THE EASTERN TWO-THIRDS OF THE COUNTRY... EVERYWHERE EAST OF THE FRONT YOU SEE THERE IN THE ROCKIES. HIGH PRESSURE DOMINATING ALL THE WAY INTO THE GULF COAST...LAKE EFFECT SNOWS WILL CONTINUE TO FLY. SOME AREAS WILL GET A COUPLE OF FEET OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THAT'S TYPICAL LAKE EFFECT THROUGH WHEN YOU GET TO THAT MUCH COLD AIR THIS EARLY IN THE SEASON. ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM OUT WEST, BUT WE ALSO HAVE ONE DIVING INTO THE UPPER MID-WEST SO AS WE HEAD THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON, LAKE EFFECT SNOW CONTINUES TO FLY. JUST A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT SNOW INTO UPPER PLACES IN THE MIDWEST. THAT SHOULDN'T BE A BIG DEAL. THAT HAS LITTLE MOISTURE WITH IT. IT'S JUST GOING TO REINFORCE THE COLD AIR BEHIND IT. YOU CAN SEE AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW MORNING. THERE MAY BE A BAND OF SNOW IN WISCONSIN AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS IN SOME PLACES. RAIN COMING INTO NORTH AND CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW...LET'S PUT THE MAPS INTO MOTION. YOU CAN SEE THAT RAIN COMES INLAND; IT'S NOT WIDESPREAD OR HEAVY. IT'S UP INTO OREGON AND UP TO WESTERN WASHINGTON. WE WILL SEE LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS AHEAD AS YOU CAN SEE IN NEW YORK. LET'S SEE SOME PRECIPITATION ESTIMATES OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN IN THE EAST. ADD THE 36 HOURS. WE ARE GOING TO ADD THE GREAT LAKES. WHAT WE LOOK AT IN THE MOISTURE IS HOW MUCH MOISTURE IS IN THE SNOW. THERE'S THE RAINFALL, AS YOU CAN SEE IN OREGON. SOME AREAS WILL GET AN INCH OR MORE. LOOKING AT THE SNOWFALL, IT'S ALL SNOW IN THE EAST FOR THE MOST PART, BUT IT WILL CONTINUE TO ADD SOME INTO THE GREAT LAKES AND PARTS OF THE GREAT LAKES THAT ARE NOT LAKE EFFECT SNOW. SOME AREAS IN THE CENTRAL APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS...A HUGE AREA OF 20'S FROM THE EASTERN CORN BELT INTO CANADA. IT'S CHILLY. LOWS TONIGHT IN ATLANTA IS 25, JACKSONVILLE IT'S 30. THAT'S PROBABLY RECORD BREAKING NUMBERS. AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW AFTERNOON, THE WARM SPOT IS IN TEXAS IN THE 60'S. THERE'S THE REASON. THERE IS A BIG TROUGH IN THE JET STREAM. THAT CONTINUES TO ROTATE AND CONTINUE TO PUMP IN COLD AIR. THERE IS THE WARM UP THAT WILL CONTINUE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THAT DIGS IN AGAIN AS WE HEAD INTO THANKSGIVING. THAT'S A LOOK ACROSS THE COUNTRY. NOW LET'S LOOK AT SOME LOCAL FORECASTS. FIRST OF ALL FOR POINSETTIA, IDAHO IT'S PARTLY SUNNY AND COLD TODAY. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE IS AROUND 30 DEGREES. EVERYBODY IS COLD. SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS HAS LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND COLD. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE IS 39. EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA IS PARTLY SUNNY, WINDY AND COLD. HIGH OF 31...

TEASE:
IT'S OUR WEEKLY LOOK AT DAIRY...WHEN WE COME BACK, HOW A NEW TRADE DEAL BETWEEN CHINA AND AUSTRAILIA COULD IMPACT GLOBAL SHIPPING.
DTR CHINA AUSSIE TRADE:
IN DAIRY TODAY, A NEW FREE TRADE DEAL BETWEEN AUSTRAILIA AND CHINA MAY HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON WORLD DAIRY EXPORTS. CHINA EXPECTED TO REDUCE IMPORT TARIFFS ON A NUMBER OF AG PRODUCTS FROM AUSTRAILIA INCLUDING BEEF AND DAIRY.
DTR NMPF JOINS HUMAN ASSOC:
THE NATIONAL MILK PRODUCERS FEDERATION PRESIDENT AND CEO--JIM MULHERN REPRESENTED THE DAIRY INDUSTRY AT AN AMERICAN HUMANE ASSOCIATION GATHERING IN WASHINGTON.FOUNDED IN 1877, IT'S THE NATIONS OLDEST HUMANE ANIMAL ORGANZIAITON.
MULHERN MAKING THE POINT THAT HUMANE CARE OF ANIMALS IS NOT JUST GOOD FOR COWS BUT FOR CONSUMERS AND FARMERS AS WELL.
DTR HAY PRICES:
U.S. HAY PRICES CONTINUE TO FALL. NOW DOWN FOR THE FIFTH MONTH IN ROW. ALFALFA PRICES IN OCTOBER AVERAGING 194 DOLLARS A TON--ABOUT EVEN WITH A YEAR AGO. THE ALL HAY PRICES ENDED THE MONTH AT 173 DOLLARS. ABOUT HALF OF THE TOP 27 HAY GROWING STATES SAW ALFALFA HAY PRICES FALL LAST MONTH. NEW YORK WITH THE BIGGEST DROP--DOWN MORE THAN 30 DOLLARS A TON...IT WAS A 15 DOLLAR DROP IN ALFALFA PRICES FOR ARIZONA.
OOFT:
WELCOME TO OUTDOORS ON THE FARM. IT'S PUPPY CAMP TODAY. WE'RE INTRODUCING THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUTDOORS ON THE FARM PRO STAFF TEAM, THIS IS EMILY FLORY'S, MY DAUGHTERS NEW BLOND LAB HERE, YELLOW LAB HERE, AND RUGER. AND WE'RE TALKING WITH TODD STERRETT. TODD WHEN WE GET THESE PUPPIES STARTED. WHAT ARE THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WE NEED TO DO WITH A NEW PUPPY?  I THINK THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WOULD BE DEFINITELY A GOOD START ON THE OBEDIENCE. AND SOCIALIZATION AT HOME, OUT IN THE FIELD. TAKE THE DOG A LOT OF PLACES WHERE THEY CAN GET USED TO THINGS. YOU KNOW, TALL GRASS, BIRDS, THAT INTRODUCTION TO GUNS. WHAT WE LIKE TO DO IS START WITH A 22 CALIBER PISTOL. A LITTLE BIT SMALLER NOISE…THEN WE'LL MOVE UP TO THE BIGGER GUNS. THE 12 GAUGES, THE 20 GAUGES, THAT SORT OF THING. PUP PUP PUP PUP. GUN SHOT. START FROM A DISTANCE WORK YOUR WAY IN. AND THEN REALLY GET EM ON SOME BIRDS, AND LET THEM HAVE SOME FUN, AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'VE NOTICED SOME DOGS THAT I'VE BEEN OUT HUNTING WITH. THAT I DON'T REALLY LIKE THE WAY THAT THEY HANDLE THE KENNELLING SITUATION...YOU GOTTA GET THESE PUPPIES TO KENNEL AND WILLINGLY KENNEL. YES. DEFINITELY PROBABLY FROM AS SOON AS YOU GET THEM HOME AT 8 WEEKS OLD THE KENNEL, OR THE CRATE IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. THEY, YOU KNOW THEY REALLY TAKE TO IT ONCE THE WORKS PUT IN BY YOU. YOU KNOW THEY UNDERSTAND THAT'S KIND OF THEIR SAFE PLACE. EMILY WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN AT PUPPY CAMP? WELL ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS FROM OUR CONVERSATION RIGHT HERE IS RIGHT WHEN WE TOOK HIM HOME WE STARTED WITH SIT, STAY, GO. IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH STARTING HIM OUT WITH SOME HOUSE COMMANDS RATHER THAN FIELD COMMANDS...NOPE, I THINK HOUSE COMMANDS ARE GREAT, THE BEST THING IS JUST BE CONSISTENT ON ALL YOUR COMMANDS. SO ANOTHER THING THAT WE REALLY WANT TO LEARN IS HE, WE ARE IN LOVE WITH SOME WATERFOWL HUNTING. IS THERE MANY DIFFERENCES WHEN WE'RE STARTING PUPPIES OUT BETWEEN WATERFOWL AND UPLAND BIRD HUNTING, ANYTHING THAT WE SHOULD BE DOING DIFFERENT FOR EITHER ONE? I THINK THE MAIN THING REALLY WOULD BE THE EXPOSURE TO WATER. IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE IT, USE IT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. IT TAKES SOME TIME A LITTLE BIT FOR THESE DOGS TO GET USED TO GOING IN AT A YOUNG AGE. IT'S KIND OF A BIG BARRIER FOR THEM. SO IT'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING THEY JUST HAVE TO GET USED AND SPEND A LITTLE TIME DOING. RIGHT ABSOLUTELY. ANYTHING FOR THE UPLAND BIRD... UM, UPLAND YOU KNOW UPLANDS JUST YOU KNOW BIRD EXPOSURE REALLY. JUST LETTING THEM KIND OF THEIR INSTINCT TAKE OVER AND LET THEM LEARN TO GO OUT AND FIND THE GAME THAT'S OUT THERE. ABSOLUTELY…IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN BE DOING AT HOME WHILE WE'RE LIVING IN A TOWN RATHER THAN WHAT WE CAN WORK ON OUT HERE IN THE FIELD THAT WE CAN IMPROVE ON WHEN WE'RE AT HOME. I THINK JUST GO BACK TO ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE REALLY INTERESTED IN THE WATERFOWL HUNTING IS GOING BACK TO THE OBEDIENCE. A NICE STEADY DOG WATERFOWL HUNTING IS PROBABLY WHAT OF THE NICE THINGS. SO REALLY THAT SIT, SIT STAY IS VERY IMPORTANT SO THAT DOG IS SITTING CALMLY BESIDE YOU DURING THE HUNT AND NOT INTERFERING WITH WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO GET ACCOMPLISHED. WE GAVE HIM A LITTLE BIT OF EXPOSURE WITH THAT ON A DOVE HUNT BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY WE'RE NOT OUT TRYING TO FLUSH DOVES WE'RE JUST TRYING TO GET HIM TO RETRIEVE DOVES AND SIT AND STAY CALM WHILE THE GUNS ARE GOING OFF AROUND HIM.
