TODAY ON AGDAY
DECEMBER 21, 2016

HEADLINES
COMING UP TODAY ON AGDAY - COLD WEATHER HAS LIVESTOCK OWNERS  DIPPING INTO HAY RESERVES. PLUS, A NEW MILK PRODUCTION REPORT SHOWS  PRODUCERS CONTINUE TO PUMP MORE PRODUCT. IN AGRIBUSINESS..CHECKING  ON SOUTH AMERICA... WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR IS THAT THERE IS NO REAL THERE’S VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS IN BRAZIL.A NEW USDA REPORT TELLS YOU WHERE LOCAL FOODS ARE GOING. AND THIS  WOMAN'S LOVE OF CHRISTMAS IS ON FULL DISPLAY ONE FIGURINE AT A TIME.  AGDAY-BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE DEPENDABLE, LONG LASTING CHEVY  SILVERADO.

COLD WEATHER EFFECT ON LIVESTOCK, HEAT
GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. THE ARCTIC AIR THAT HIT THE  NORTHERN PLAINS LAST WEEK CAUSED CONSUMERS TO TURN UP THE  THERMOSTAT, WHICH INCREASED THEIR ENERGY BILLS.  FARMERS SPENT MORE  ON FUEL AS WELL DURING THE COLD SNAP, FOR LIVESTOCK. A COWS NUTRITIONAL DEMANDS INCREASE DEPENDING ON WEATHER  CONDITIONS.  ANIMALS BURN MORE CALORIES TO KEEP WARM DURING EXTREME  COLD.  CATTLE CAN CONSUME 30% TO 50% MORE FEED TO STAY WARM.  NORTH DAKOTA  RANCHERS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE FOR HAY THIS YEAR.  SUPPLIES ARE AMPLE TO GET THROUGH THE WINTER BECAUSE WEATHER  CONDITIONS WERE FAVORABLE IN 2016 FOR STOCKPILING FEED.  "WE CAME INTO THE SEASON WITH  HEALTHY  RESERVES.  GOD HAS BLESSED MOST AREAS OF THE STATE WITH AMPLE MOISTURE THROUGHOUT  THE GROWING SEASON, WHICH HAS CREATED SUBSTANTIAL RESOURCES IN TERMS OF HAY AND WE ARE  ALSO COMING OFF A COUPLE OF YEARS, BACK TO BACK, WHERE WE'VE HAD VERY MILD WINTERS AND SO  THOSE RESOURCES WEREN'T UTILIZED AND STILL REMAIN STRONG BECAUSE THEY HADN'T BEEN NEEDED."> ELLINGSON SAYS NORTH DAKOTA CATTLE THRIVE IN COLD WEATHER WITH  PROPER NUTRITION.  SHE SAYS A LONG, DRY, AND MILD FALL EXTENDED THE  GRAZING SEASON IN THE STATE, WHICH SAVED ON FEED COSTS FOR CATTLE BY  KEEPING LIVESTOCK IN PASTURES UNTIL AFTER THANKSGIVING.

FRUIT GROWERS AND COLD BLAST
FRUIT GROWERS OUT WEST HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE COLD BLAST AS  WELL. THE CALIFORNIA CITRUS MUTUAL SAYS TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE CENTRAL  VALLEY DIPPED BELOW FREEZING THIS PAST WEEKEND INTO TUESDAY MORNING.  BUT THE MUTUAL SAYS THE TEMPS WERE NOT LOW ENOUGH TO CAUSE  CONCERN FOR THE CITRUS CROP. IN FACT THE C-C-M SAYS THE COOLER TEMPS ARE A WELCOME BREAK FROM THE  WARM WINTER SO FAR. THEY SAYS TEMPS IN THE LOW 30'S ALONG WITH  PROTECTION FROM WIND MACHINES CREATE AN IDEAL CLIMATE FOR MANY  CITRUS VARIETIES. THE CITRUS MUTUAL SAYS THE NAVEL CROP IS ABOUT 25 PERCENT HARVESTED.  THE MANDARIN CROP IS 30 PERCENT HARVESTED.  THE COOLER WEATHER WILL ALLOW THE REMAINING CROP TO STORE LONGER ON THE TREE AND IMPROVE  EATING QUALITY.

LATEST MILK PRODUCTION REPORT
USDA ROLLING OUT A FRESH MILK PRODUCTION REPORT LATE TUESDAY. THE AG DEPARTMENT SAYS NOVEMBER MILK PRODUCTION CLIMBED TWO POINT  SIX PERCENT FROM A YEAR AGO. TOTAL PRODUCTION IN THE TOP 23 STATES WAS  JUST OVER 16 BILLION POUNDS. PRODUCTION PER COW CLIMBED 40 POUNDS FROM A YEAR AGO.  THE HERD IS  33-THOUSAND HEAD LARGER. STATE BY STATE - TEAS AND KANSAS WERE BOTH ELEVEN PERCENT HIGHER  FROM A YEAR AGO.ANALYSTS SAY EVEN AS U.S. PRODUCTION HOLDS, PRICES CONTINUE TO  IMPROVE. "THE MILK MARKET REALLY THE PAST WHAT IS IT NOW 4-5 MONTHS HAS PUT IN 2.5 TO 3 BUCKS AND MOST RECENTLY WE'VE BLOWN THROUGH THE CONTRACT HIGHS FOR 2017 YOU KNOW FUTURES CONTRACTS EACH RESPECTIVE MONTH AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN WE'RE BACK AT A LEVEL WHERE HEY WE CAN MAKE THINGS WORK." A GLOBAL INDICATOR OF DAIRY MARKETS SOFTENED A BIT TUESDAY. THE GLOBAL DAIRY TRADE AUCTION FALLING POINT 5 PERCENT DURING BIDDING. BUT 5 OF THE MAJOR PRODUCTS AT THE AUCTION ACTUALLY GAINED GROUND. CHEESE CLIMBING NEARLY 2 PERCENT AND BUTTER WAS ALSO UP A HALF POINT. WORLD CHEESE PRICES ARE NOW HIGHER THAN BARREL PRICES HERE IN THE  U.S.-- BUTTER HOWEVER IS 15 PERCENT HIGHER THAN THE GLOBAL MARK. WHETHER IT'S UPSETTING PRICES FOR FARMERS, OR UPSETTING POLITICS FOR  OTHER PEOPLE, AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WE OFTEN LOOK TO THE NEW YEAR.

UNCERTAINTY TO TRUMP’S PRESIDENTIAL PATH
DONALD TRUMP'S INAUGURATION AS THE 45TH US PRESIDENT WILL BE HELD ON  JANUARY 20TH.HIS VICTORY SPARKED PROTESTS. BUT IT ALSO PROVOKED WIDESPREAD  SPECULATION ABOUT SOME OF HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES. THE CHIEF U-S ECONOMIST WITH S&P GLOBAL RATINGS SAYS THERE'S STILL  SOME UNCERTAINTY OVER WHAT PATH HE WILL TAKE.  "IN TERMS OF THE IMPACT OF THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY ON GROWTH, YOU HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND THAT  RIGHT NOW CAMPAIGN PROMISES ARE JUST WHAT THEY ARE, PROMISES, THEY ARE NOT POLICIES. SO LET'S  SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN TERMS OF HOW THEY GET THROUGH CONGRESS AND WHETHER.. AND BASICALLY  WHAT COMES OUT AT THE END.""IF YOU LOOK AT THE JOB GAINS NOW AVERAGING AROUND 180,000 PER MONTH FOR THE YEAR TO DATE  AND THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE UNDER 5 PERCENT WE HAVE A RATHER STRONG JOBS MARKET, SO IN  TERMS OF ACTUALLY PUSHING THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DOWN EVEN FURTHER AND STRENGTHENING THE  JOBS MARKET THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY RESULT IN STRONGER INFLATION AS WELL, MAKING THE FED LIKELY  HAVING TO MOVE FURTHER."BOVINO SAYS IF THERE ARE NO MAJOR SHOCKS TO THE ECONOMY, GROWTH IS EXPECTED TO BE  AROUND TWO AND A HALF PERCENT AND MORE INTEREST RATE RISES ARE LIKELY.

CROP COMMENTS
"CROP COMMENTS IS POWERED BY RESICORE HERBICIDE FOR CORN, FROM  DOW AGROSCIENCES."  COLD WEATHER IS KEEPING LIVESTOCK OWNERS BUSY. MIKE HOFFMAN HAS DETAILS IN THIS MORNING'S CROP COMMENTS. GOOD MORNING MIKE. GOOD MORNING CLINTON. OUR OWN BETSY JIBBEN IS BACK HOME IN SOUTH DAKOTA. SHE'S SPENDING THE WEEK ON HER FAMILY'S FARM NEAR SIOUX FALLS. OF COURSE CHRISTMAS MIGHT BE ONCE A YEAR, BUT FEEDING CATTLE IS AN  EVERY DAY JOB. BETSY SAYS TEMPERATURES ARE ON THE RISE BUT THEY'RE FEEDING PLENTY OF  HAY TO KEEP THE LIVESTOCK WARM. BETSY IS GETTING PLENTY OF WORK IN PULLING THE WRAP OFF THOSE  ROUNDBALES. THE GREAT LAKES ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH LAB TRACKS ICE COVER ON THE  GREAT LAKES. DESPITE THE FRIGID TEMPERATURES AS OF LATE, IT'LL TAKE A LOT  MORE TO GET MORE ICE ON THOSE BIG BODIES OF WATER. AS OF TODAY JUST  ABOUT FIVE PERCENT OF THE FIVE LAKES HAVE ICE COVER. STILL, IT'S FURTHER ALONG THAN LAST YEAR WHEN LESS THAN ONE PERCENT  HAD ICE COVER NOW TAKING A LOOK AT THE WEATHER MAP YOU CAN SEE THE ARCTIC AIR IS BOTTLED UP BEHIND THAT STATIONARY FRONT BUT WE DO HAVE SOME SYSTEM MOVING FROM WEST TO EAST WE’LL LET YOU KNOW WHERE THOSE ARE HEADED NEXT BUT NOW HERE ARE SOME HOMETOWN TEMPS.

TEASE
WHEN WE COME BACK, WE'LL LOOK AT SOUTH AMERICA WEATHER AND IMPACT IT  COULD HAVE ON U.S. PRICES HEADING THROUGH JANUARY. LATER, THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT IS NOT LOST ON THIS COLLECTOR.  SHE HAS A  NATIVITY SCENE OF EVERY SHAPE AND SIZE IN HER HOME. WE'LL TAKE A CLOSER LOOK WHEN WE HEAD IN THE COUNTRY.

FLOOR OF THE CME
AGRIBUSINESS TODAY, BROUGHT TO YOU BY YAMAHA - MAKERS OF VIKING SIDE- BY-SIDES.  YAMAHA - REAL WORLD TOUGH.  IN AGRIBUSINESS ANOTHER COLD DAY FOR COMMODITY MARKETS...LETS FIND  OUT WHY FROM THE FLOOR OF THE CME IN CHICAGO. GRAIN MARKETS IN CHICAGO WERE MOSTLY LOWER ON TUESDAY THE SELL OFF  WAS LED BY SOYBEAN MARKET. UH A FEW THINGS HAVE CHANGED HERE  RECENTLY. THERE HAD BEEN SOME VERY DRY AREAS OF CENTRAL AND  SOUTHERN ARGENTINA. THOSE AREAS GOT SOME RAIN HERE THIS PAST  WEEKEND AND THERE 'S MORE RAIN SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK. SO I THINK  FOR THE MOMENT THE SOUTH AMERICAN WEATHER THREAT IS KIND OF OFF THE  TABLE. CORN MARKET ALSO UNDER PRESSURE BUT REALLY JUST CONFINED TO  WHAT 'S BEEN A MULTI MONTH TRADING RANGE HERE. NEARBY FUTURES  AROUND THREE 50 MARK. FARMERS OWN JUST OWN AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF  OF THE TWO THOUSAND SIXTEEN CORN CROP THAT'S UNPRICED AND  UNHEDGED. HISTORICALLY THIS MARKET IS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME RALLYING  WHEN THAT 'S THE CASE. JOE VACLAVIK STANDARD GRAIN FROM THE FLOOR OF  CME GROUP.

AGRIBUSINESS
BRIAN ROACH ROACH AG MARKETING OUR GUEST HERE THAT THE AGRIBUSINESS  DESK TODAY LETS TALK ABOUT SOUTH AMERICA BECAUSE THAT SEEMS TO BE  WERE EVERYONE 'S ATTENTION HAS TURNED TO SEE HOW IS THEIR GROWING  SEASON SHAPING UP ARE THEY GONNA HAVE A BIG CROP OR A SMALL CROP  WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR? WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR IS THAT THERE 'S REALLY  THERE 'S VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS IN BRAZIL. THEY'RE ANTICIPATING A BIG CORN  CROP IN BRAZIL AFTER LAST YEAR 'S SECOND CROP FAILURE. SO INTERIOR CORN  PRICES ARE HIGH IN BRAZIL THEY INTEND TO GROW THE CORN CROP NO REAL  PROBLEMS WITH WEATHER TODAY SO FAR BUT IF YOU LOOK DOWN IN ARGENTINA THERE'S SOME DRYNESS THAT'S DEVELOPING IN ABOUT HALF OF THE CORN  CROP THEY'RE STILL NOT YET PLANTED IN AND SO IF YOU LOOK AT HOW THAT  PLAYS OUT TODAY 'S FORECAST LOOKS LIKE IT COULD TURN INTO MAYBE  SOMEONE OF A BULLISH FORECAST IF IT PLAYS OUT THE WAY IT LOOKS TODAY  BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY EITHER ARGENTINA OR BRAZIL BOTH OF THEM HAVE  A LONG GROWING SEASON. WE FOUND THAT OUT LAST YEAR. IF YOU LOOK AT  LAST YEAR EVERYBODY INCLUDING ME I THOUGHT THE BEAN CROP WAS MADE  AND WE FIND OUT THAT IT WAS MADE BUT THE FLOODS KEPT IT FROM GETTING  HARVESTED IN ARGENTINA FOR EXAMPLE. SO I THINK YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER  THAT IT'S A LONG GROWING SEASON AND THE RALLIES IN THESE MARKETS WITH  A BIG DEMAND WERE IT'S AT AT THAT REQUIRE BIG CROPS AND IF YOU JUST TAKE SOME OF THE MAJOR  EXPORTING COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD PRIMARILY IN CHINA NOT BEING AN  EXPORTER BUT IN THE U S AND IN SOUTH AMERICA IF YOU JUST BRING YIELDS  DOWN TO A TREND OR EVEN SUB TREND THE BIG SURPLUSES THAT WE HAVE  TODAY EVAPORATE AND SO I THINK THAT 'S WHY BEANS CONTINUED OVER  PERFORM BECAUSE WE CAN'T ALLOW A SHORT CROP LIKE LAST YEAR AND STILL  TRYING TO ENTICE YOU KNOW THESE BEAN ACRES AND REALLY TO STAY ON THIS.  REAL QUICK HOW DO YOU THINK THIS IMPACTS US IS WE GO INTO THE FEBRUARY MARCH TIME PERIOD WE... ARE WE STILL WATCHING THOSE GROWING AREAS I THINK THAT YOU YES BECAUSE SOUTH OR BRAZIL FOR EXAMPLE ONCE YOU GET  THE FIRST SEASON BEANS OUT THEY PLANT CORN BEHIND OR EVEN DOUBLE  CROP THE CORN SO THERE 'S THERE 'S A LONG PERIOD OF GROWING THAT STILL  COMES IN AFTER FEBRUARY THAT'S TIED TO THE BRAZIL CORN CROP AND SO I THINK THAT YOU JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OPPORTUNITY BUT BE READY TO  DO SOMETHING WHEN THOSE OPPORTUNITIES COME ALONG GOOD ADVICE BE  READY ALL RIGHT APPREICATE IT WE'LL BE BACK WITH MORE AGDAY IN JUST A  MINUTE. MIKE  LOOKS LIKE THAT PACIFIC AIR IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY  WARMING THINGS UP A BIT. YEAH IT REALLY IS IT 'S A COLD FRONT BUT ITS JUST  GOING TO FLOOD THE WHOLE COUNTRY WITH A PACIFIC AIR WHICH ISN'T  ANYTHING LIKE THE ARCTIC AIR WE HAD OF COURSE AT ARCTIC AIR IS BOTTLED  UP BEHIND A STATIONARY FRONT YOU SEE JUST NORTH OF THE BORDER AND  PLACES EVENTUALLY THAT WILL COME BACK SOUTH AND THE WEST WILL SHOW  THAT 'S COMING UP ON THE JET STREAM BUT FOR NOW EVERYTHING 'S MOVING  FROM WEST TO EAST PUTTING THE MAPS INTO MOTION YOU CAN SEE A HIGH  PRESSURE MOVING OFF THE EAST COAST THROUGH THE GREAT... THE GULF  COAST I SHOULD SAY OUR COLD FRONT MOVING INTO SOUTHERN FLORIDA THIS  IS KIND OF AIR THAT DID COME FROM THE ARCTIC BUT IT 'S REALLY MODERATED A  LOT SO IT WON'T BE REALLY REALLY COLD IN THE PENINSULA OF FLORIDA THERE'S THAT PACIFIC AIR COMING IN BEHIND THAT NEXT FRONT AND YOU ALSO  SEE A PRETTY GOOD SYSTEM THERE TO THE SOUTHWEST OF MEXICO THAT 'S  MOVING NORTHEASTWARD AND THAT 'S GOING TO START TO AFFECT PARTS OF  THE SOUTHWESTERN SECTIONS OF THE COUNTRY WE ALSO HAVE A SYSTEM  COMING INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE MORNING  HOURS TOMORROW THAT WILL SPREAD SOME RAIN AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY  TOMORROW INTO THE A WESTERN PORTIONS OF WASHINGTON AND OREGON 'S A  LAKE EFFECT SNOW IN SPOTS THROUGH THE GREAT LIGHTS NOTHING LIKE  WHEN WE HAD THE ARCTIC AIR COMING ACROSS THOSE WARM BODIES OF  WATER THOUGH AND AGAIN SEE SOME OF THAT RAIN MIXED WITH SOME ICE AND  SNOW IN NORTH EASTERN PORTIONS OF NEW MEXICO IN THE PANHANDLE OF  TEXAS BY LATE IN THE DAY TOMORROW THERE 'S A PRECIPITATION ESTIMATE  THAT WE'VE SEEN OVER THE PAST TWENTY FOUR HOURS MOST OF IT HAS BEEN  IN THE NORTHWESTERN SECTIONS OF THE COUNTRY NORTHERN ROCKIES LITTLE BIT ALONG THE NORTHERN TIER OF STATES ADDING IN THE NEXT THIRTY  SIX HOURS WILL GET SOME IN THE NORTHERN MINNESOTAAT MICHIGAN IN THE  PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST LITTLE BIT IN SOUTH FLORIDAAND OF COURSE IS  TWO SYSTEMS ONE IN THE SOUTHWEST ONE OF THE NORTHWEST STARTING TO  COME IN LAND AS WELL SNOWFALL ESTIMATES MAINLY BEEN CONFINED TO THE  NORTHERN LAKES AS WELL AS WESTERN SECTIONS NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE ROCKIES ADDING IN THE  NEXT THIRTY SIX HOURS WILL GET THAT LITTLE STRIP OF SNOW WITH THAT NORTHERN THE SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH THE NORTHERN GREAT LAKES AND  INTO NEW ENGLAND WILL ALSO GET A LITTLE BIT START TO DEVELOP THERE IN A  PART OF THE FOUR CORNER REGION ESPECIALLY NORTHERN NEW MEXICO AND  TAKE A LOOK AT TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON AND BOY IS THAT A CHANGE  FROM TWO OR THREE DAYS AGO WE'RE SEEING THIRTIES AND FORTIES NOW  ACROSS THE PLAINS INTO THE OHIO VALLEY AND GREAT LAKES SIXTIES RETURNED TO THE GULF COAST REGION LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT COLDEST AIR IS GOING TO BE  NEW ENGLAND AS WELL AS THE INTERIOR PORTIONS OF THE ROCKIES AND THEN  YOU CAN LOOK IT TOMORROW AFTERNOON MORE THE SAME A LITTLE BIT  COLDER IN THE NORTHERN PLAINS WE'RE STILL TALKING TWENTIES AND  THIRTIES WHICH IS ABOVE NORMAL FOR THERE THERE 'S A JET STREAM AND THIS  IS THE REASON EVERYTHING 'S BOTTLED UP THE NORTH WE CAN HAVE A ZONAL  FLOW BUT THEN YOU CAN SEE A PRETTY GOOD TROUGH THERE THAT COULD BE  A CHRISTMAS SYSTEM COMING THROUGH THE GREAT LAKES WE'LL BE WATCHING  THAT ONE THEN LOOK AT THAT TROUGH DIG IN OUT WEST THAT COULD BE SOME  MORE ARCTIC AIR COMING IN THE WESTERN STATES THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK  THAT 'S A LOOK ACROSS THE COUNTRY NOW LET 'S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME LOCAL  FORECASTS. FOR OGDEN UTAH TODAY PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY AND COLD  HIGHER ON THIRTY FIVE DEGREES PEORIA ILLINOIS A MIXTURE OF SUNSHINE AND  CLOUDS HIGH OF THIRTY SIX AND WE'LL HEAD TO ROCHESTER NEW YORK SUNSHINE EARLY THEN BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY HIGH ROUND THIRTY SIX  DEGREES.

ONE NORTH DAKOTA WOMAN HAS TAKEN THE CHRISTMAS TRADITION OF  "DECKING THE HALLS" TO HEAVENLY HEIGHTS.  CLIFF NAYLOR REPORTS. SARA ANDERSON MOORE IS NEVER SET WHEN IT COMES TO NATIVITY SETS. "TWO JUST WASN'T  ENOUGH." NEITHER IS 435. THAT'S THE NUMBER OF NATIVITY SETS SHE CURRENTLY HAS IN HER  COLLECTION. IT'S OVERWHELMING, BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, UNBELIEVABLE. THE ENTIRE NATIVITY SET COLLECTION HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY ONLY ONCE BECAUSE OF THE SHOWROOM  SPACE IT TAKES TO ACCOMMODATE HUNDREDS OF STABLE SCENES. WHEN ALL THE SETS WERE SET UP IN  ONE PLACE PICTURES WERE TAKEN OF EVERY SINGLE ONE. MANY OF THE NATIVITY SETS ARE WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED WHIMSICAL, THIS ONE IS CALLED THE  SMORES MADE OUT OF LITTLE GRAHAM CRACKER, CHOCOLATE AND MARSHMALLOW.  KIND'A OF A CRAZY SET  BUT STILL KIND'A FUN. PROBABLY THE ULTIMATE WHIMSICAL SET WOULD BE THE RUBBER DUCKS.  THIS ONE USUALLY GARNERS A LOT OF ATTENTION WHEN I HAVE IT OUT. SHE FINDS THE DIVINE FIGURINES ON LINE, IN THRIFT STORES, AND RECEIVES MANY AS GIFTS FROM FRIENDS  AND FAMILY.  SARA'S MANGER SCENES COME FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.  THIS SET IS FROM EUROPE AND IT'S VERY, VERY UNIQUE.  THE BABY IS PROBABLY THE MOST UNUSUAL  BABY JESUS YOU'LL EVER SEE IN ANY SET. A NOTEBOOK HELPS HER CATALOG THE CONTENTS OF THIS COLOSSAL CACHE OF MINIATURE ICONS. WHEN I GET ONE I PUT THE NUMBER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MARY AND IT CORRESPONDS WITH THE NEXT  NUMBER COMING UP IN THE LIST.  SARA HAS BEEN DRAWN TO SMALL STATUES OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH SINCE SHE WAS A CHILD, BUT  1994 WAS THE YEAR SARA DECIDED TO BECOME A SERIOUS COLLECTOR.   FROM THAT POINT ON I QUIT WORRYING ABOUT HOW MANY I HAD AND IF THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL, WHICH  THEY ALL ARE, I HAD TO BUY THEM. SARA SAYS HER MOTHER ALLOWED HER TO PLAY WITH THE FAMILY  NATIVITY SET WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD AND THAT SPARKED HER LOVE FOR THE SMALL PLASTIC OR CERAMIC  SYMBOLS OF CHRISTMAS.  WHEN THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER, SARA KEEPS THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON  ALIVE YEAR ROUND BY DISPLAYING AT LEAST THIRTY-FIVE NATIVITY SETS IN HER HOME, WINTER, SPRING,  SUMMER AND FALL. I'M CLIFF NAYLOR REPORTING FOR AGDAY . SARA SAYS IF PARENTS WHAT TO INSTILL A LOVE OF NATIVITY SETS IN THEIR  CHILDREN, THEY SHOULD ALLOW THEM TO PLAY WITH THE FAMILY MANGER  SCENE FIGURES.  IF YOU HAVE A HEIRLOOM OR EXPENSIVE SET, BUY A PLASTIC  ONE KIDS CAN HANDLE.
