What is posing the biggest threat to your corn crop this year?
The current AgWeb poll asks…
What's the biggest agronomic threat in corn you're concerned about this year?
  • Weed resistance
  • Weather
  • Corn nematodes
  • The unknown
Here are the results so far:
It's no surprise weather is leading the race, according farmer reports in AgWeb's Crop Comments. Almost every corner of the country has been experiencing some challenging weather.
In Modesto, Calif., a farmer reports that California's Central Valley has been receiving unsettled weather. "We have been experiencing short but frequent storms throughout the year.”
A farmer from Mercer County, Ill., says cool and wet weather has settled in. "We have had 3" of rain in the past 10 days. All of the corn has very poor color with all of the cool wet weather. My 300-acre field which had water on it a month ago is even worse now.”
In Lewistown, Mont., a farmer says he is worried about the weather pattern his area is in. He sums it up: wind, wind, wind.
Hail and funnel clouds showed up in McPherson County, Kan. this week. "Fortunately for me, the main storms were south and east of my farm,” the farmer reports.
What about you? What's the biggest agronomic threat in corn you're concerned about this year?
