ALERT 1/17/2014: UAN, Urea, Phosphate

January 17, 2014 05:17 AM

Fertilizer prices are currently showing strong signs of price strength. Get out in front of the coming recovery by booking 20% of spring needs to get to 50% covered on UAN and urea and 50% covered on phosphate. If next week confirms the reversal, we will book more aggressively.

UAN/Urea -- Information is filtering in from several sources that UAN and urea prices are quickly forging a price recovery. Supply constraints, lagging domestic N production and low urea import tonnage year-on-year is forcing prices higher.

Anhydrous prices are currently stable on strong carryover. Remain 30% covered for spring needs.

Phosphate -- Sources also indicate phosphate pricing is unsustainable at current levels and the industry is seeing dramatic price increases here as well.
