The War of 1812 is often overshadowed by other American wars: the American Revolution, the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and so on.
Even though it isn’t one of the better known wars, it played a pivotal role in the development of history.
In late 1814, the British army invaded Louisiana in what became known as the Battle of New Orleans.
That battle is now immortalized in a song that was written in 1959.
