ARC/PLC Enrollment for 2016 Begins Dec. 7

It probably seems like yesterday that you made the decision whether to elect ARC or PLC for your farm operation, but it’s already time to sign up for 2016 to ensure coverage in this farm bill safety net program.

According to Farm Service Agency Administrator Val Dolcini, producers can begin enrolling for 2016 on Monday, Dec. 7, at their local FSA office. The deadline for enrollment is August 1, 2016.

He reminded growers that they cannot change their choice of ARC or PLC. “The choice between ARC and PLC is completed and remains in effect, but producers must still enroll their farm by signing a contract each year to receive coverage,” Dolcini said.

The ARC/PLC program covers corn, soybeans, wheat and other crops, including sorghum, medium grain rice, oats, peanuts and more. More than 90% of corn and soybean farmers participating in 2015 chose ARC versus growers of peanut and rice, who overwhelmingly picked PLC.
