The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) releases its August 2010 U.S. sales data.
AEM reports that monthly two-wheel-drive tractor sales were up 10.9% in August 2010 compared with the same month in 2009. Year-to-date, August 2010 data is 2.1% ahead of the same time period for 2009 (the only segment within two-wheel-drive tractors that was down was the 40 to 100 hp group, which was down 4.7%.)
Four-wheel-drive tractor sales were up 9.5% for August 2010 compared with August. 2009, and sales were up 2.1% year-to-date August 2010 compared with the same time period in 2009.
Total farm tractor sales increased 10.8% in August 2010 compared with data from the same month in 2009. And total farm tractor sales year-to-date 2010 are 2.5% higher than the same time period in August 2009.
Combine sales were up 9.9% in August 2010 compared with August 2009, and year-to-date combine sales were up 1.7% compared with the same time period 2009.
Retail sales for farm tractors and combines are approve 2009 levels but below the five-year average.
