The number of farmers with a large quantity of hay acres continues to increase. In response to market demand, Case IH recently expanded its baler offering to include features for growers who need to cover a lot of acres in a short amount of time. This week the company introduced a new 3x4 large square baler and the 2017 RB5 series round balers, in addition to announcing ISOBUS Class 3 functionality will be available on all models in their baler lineup.

According to officials, the new LB434XL 3X4 large square baler has more capacity and produces greater bale density, according to Cole Carling, Case IH hay and forage marketing manager.

“Not only are we meeting the demand for heavier bales with greater density through our LB434XL balers, we’re giving producers the technology they need to more efficiently harvest each crop at its peak nutritional value,” he says.

Carling says the LB434XL is designed for producers with a lot of ground to cover and only a short time to do it. The bale chamber is 31.5 inches longer than current LB434 balers and delivers up to 10% higher bale density. Greater density means more crop per bale, which can decrease bale count as well as handling, wrapping and transportation costs. That could help producers reach new markets, according to Carling.

The new baler is durable, featuring increased pickup auger thickness, more robust axle and bearing options, and a stronger frame adds to durability, he says.
