Case IH Displays Transmission and Technology Innovations

November 13, 2011 08:30 PM

This summer farmers got the first look at the Case IH Magnum 370 geared with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). At Agritechnica, Case IH is displaying a version of that tractor that’s closer to its production model. The current 235, 260, 290, 315 and 340 models also have the CVT option. The Magnum 370 is powered by an 8.7-liter Case IH FPT engine, which delivers up to 419 maximum boosted engine horsepower.

To better illustrate the Case IH CVT, a dynamic cut away was in the booth. This allows farmers to see the inner mechanics and how it responds to the operator to achieve greater efficiency.

A new product, AFS Connect, will be available through Case IH and its partnership with Trimble. AFS Connect is a telematics system connecting vehicles in the field to managers on the computer. There wil be two levels to the product: the first a monitoring system, and the second level provides more management information and real-time diagnostics. The AFS Connect system will be available first on Magnum and sugar cane harvesters. Then Steiger tractors will be able to outfitted with the technology.
