Food safety technology company Certus has introduced a rapid response in-house pathogen testing system.

Food safety technology company Certus has introduced a rapid response in-house pathogen testing system.

Certus System, referred to by the company as a same-shift (within eight hours) result solution, gives companies the ability to test products themselves instead of through a third-party lab.

“The Certus System allows you to save money, save time and save your reputation,” John Coomes, Certus president, said in the release. “With in-house same-shift detection, food producers can enhance their quality control measures and establish their reputation as a trustworthy supplier.”

The system recently underwent a validation process testing its ability to detect listeria strains during a standard work shift, according to the news release. The evaluation included testing on stainless steel, plastic, ceramic and other surfaces, with a 98% accuracy, according to the release.

The system includes facility management software that allows test site result mapping, and automatically records critical data points that show Food Safety Modernization Act compliance.

The company will be demonstrating the Certus System at the International Association of Food Protection July 8-11 in Salt Lake City.
