The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Environmental Protection Agency announced on June 5 that they have reached an agreement to ensure that livestock and poultry producers are working to reduce ag runoff into the bay.
The foundation said the agreement will help ensure that the goal of reducing pollution in the six-state, 64,000-square-mile watershed will be achieved by 2025.
The agreement calls for regular inspections of animal feeding operations to make sure they are complying with anti-pollution regulations.
However, the Associated Press reports that some environmental groups are displeased with the new agreement.
