BEIJING (AP) - China's government says its economy czar, Vice Premier Liu He, will visit Washington on Jan. 30-31 for talks aimed at resolving a costly tariff war.
Thursday's announcement is the first indication of the next step by the two sides following three days of negotiations in Beijing this month over the dispute sparked by U.S. complaints about Chinese technology ambitions.
The Ministry of Commerce says the talks will be aimed at carrying out the Dec. 1 agreement by Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to suspend further tariff hikes for 90 days while they negotiate.
Both sides have imposed penalty duties on billions of dollars of each other's goods.
