Chinese President Pressing for Free Trade with US

Chinese President Xi Jinping pressed the case for free trade while attending the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Xi didn’t directly mention President-elect Donald Trump, but he did express concern that the new U.S. administration may enact more protectionist measures in trade.

Xi warns that “no one will emerge as a winner in a trade war.”

His comments come as the American Chamber of Commerce in China released a new survey that shows American companies with operations in China feel “less welcome” than in the past.

Of its nearly 900 members, 60 percent said they have little confidence that the Chinese government is committed to opening markets further in the next three years.
